I returned last week from Enlightened Warrior Training Camp in the mountains of British Columbia. It is an intense week-long event designed to find your limits, and then show you how to push through them.
In the end it was by far the best business training I have ever been to that involved no direct business training. So I thought I would share some of the most powerful lessons with you, and how they might apply to your business:
Your conditions for success are often your biggest obstacles to success. You will get your book written as soon as you have a break from your hectic schedule. You will get that email blast out tomorrow morning as long as no clients interrupt you. What if you eliminated your conditions for success? What if your actions became unconditional? Success would be the only option left.
Your physical posture tells your brain what state you are in. If we are feeling uncertain we naturally slouch, and if we are feeling confident we naturally stand up taller. That makes perfect sense. But this tie between your posture and attitude is so close that if you change your posture, your attitude will follow. Try it now: stand up tall, shoulders back, half smile on your lips, and breathe deeply. A powerful posture literally gives you power.
We create our own reality. What is possible for you is – by and large – what you have decided is possible for you. Each person has their own understanding of what is available for them, and they will achieve up to (but not beyond) their own mental limits. This means that…
A united team can bend reality. When a tight group of people develop a new, commonly shared vision of what is possible, the reality of what is possible for them literally changes. When someone is surrounded by people who all believe that they are capable of more than their self-imposed limits – and when that group is extremely vocal about their shared vision and what they all believe is possible – the individual’s vision of what they can achieve will shift.
And in that moment, as their internal limits shift, the external reality of what they are capable of will shift in unison. A team can literally bend reality through their joint beliefs. So what would it mean for your business if your team’s vision was changed? What would be the impact of a new reality?
