Choose the Correct Category

When you initially create a Facebook page for your business, you’ll have the option if placing it within one of six different categories. It’s recommended that you double-check this information to ensure it’s correct. If you’re hoping to attract customer reviews, you should choose the “Local Business or Place” category, because this is the only category that supports reviews.

Use Your Real Facebook Profile

All Facebook pages must be created through a personal profile. With that said, it’s recommended that you use your real Facebook profile to create a business page instead of a fake/bogus profile. Some business owners will create fake profiles for the sole purpose of creating a page. And while this may seem harmless enough, it’s against the social network’s terms and conditions; thus, it could result in both your profile and page being shut down. Unless you’re willing to take that risk (hint: you shouldn’t), only create pages through your actual personal profile.

Set Your Profile Pic

Your page’s profile page is a representation of your brand, which is why it’s a good idea to use a relevant and meaningful image here. This can be something like your business’s logo or even a partial design of your site’s header. You want visitors to immediately recognize your brand upon visiting the page, so choose a relevant profile pic. Also, keep in mind that profile pics should be 180 x 180 pixels.

Post New Content Regularly

I know this probably common sense to most seasoned social media marketing experts, but it’s still worth mentioning that you should get into the habit of publishing fresh content to your Facebook page on a regular basis. Some business owners may initially make a post or two, only to neglect their page in the days and weeks to follow. When this occurs, users will stop following the page, making it little-of-no use in promoting the brand’s products or services. Try to get into the habit of making a new post at least twice a week, more if you have the free time and resources.

Complete the ‘About’ Section

Just because the About section of your Facebook page is optional doesn’t mean it should be skipped. When someone wants to learn more about your business and what it does, they may look here for more information. So after creating your Facebook page, edit the About section to include relevant information about your business. You should also include your business’s contact information like phone number, street address, email address, etc.

Boost Popular Posts

Assuming you have the budget, try boosting your popular posts. Boosting involves paying for additional exposure. Boosted posts will reach a larger audience, meaning more people will see your posts, and hopefully follow your account.
