
It’s no mystery that blogging will help you get to the top of Google, AND will engage your customers. Blogging is so popular, you can even make a career out of just blogging! People love it – no matter what the industry. Yes – even your industry – if you say that most people in your industry don’t blog, then that’s a great reason to start! Low competition! .
Here’s how to do it:
This is really simple- basically, just pick a topic, and write an article about it (like this one!). The topic should be relevant to your business, and should give some really good information to your potential customer. It should be interesting to read, and should be beneficial to them. Most of the article should be purely informational, and about 20% can be talking about your services. Give them the information first, and then talk about your services. Nobody wants to read an article about your company- how will that help them in the long run? They want to read an article about how to fix their car, or how to dye their hair, or how to get more business. After you give them the meat, you can give them details about what you can offer them. (This blog you are reading is a great example- learn from the pros!)
2) Get more reviews
You can easily create a system for getting more reviews, and the benefits are huge! You don’t need to be a marketing expert to accomplish this, and reviews can help your business immensely! Having a review on Google + or Yelp not only helps your SEO, it also draws people into your business. No matter what the industry, having good reviews can mean the difference between an increase in customers, and a decrease in customers. It will give you that edge above your competition.

This will take a bit of time to set up, but once you have it in place, you will be able to boost your reviews,and watch as your client base increases dramatically.
First, you need to set up a Yelp, and Google+ account for your business. If you already have these, then you can move to the next section!
Depending on your industry, you may be working with customers face-to-face on a daily basis, or you may only be working with them over the phone, or digitally. The first thing to remember that the review sites you want to focus on are Yelp, and Google+. Your customer needs to have an account with one of these review sites in order to give you a review. If you are seeing them face-to-face, then it is simple. Have a laptop, or ipad available, and ask your client to login to their account on either Yelp or Google+. Ask them to type out the review right then and there. It is very important that you get your client to type the review to you on their account in front of you. If you ask them to do it later, you will rarely see the review. People are busy, and this is not going to be their most important task of the day.
If you work with your clients mainly over the phone or digitally, then you will need to ask for the review over the phone. While on the phone with your client, ask them to login to their Yelp, or Google+ account. Ask them to type out their review while you are on the phone with them and click submit. Again, if you let them do it later, they will rarely do it.
3) Start doing SEO for your website!
This is the most important decision you can make for your company! Imagine how many more customers you would have if you were on the top page of Google. It is an incredible tool to bring in more customers, but you know that already! We’ve seen websites go from not in the top 1000 results to the first page in less than 2 months, and to tell you the truth, this happens with MOST sites!

Okay, let’s be real – you can do small things here and there to increase your rankings, but if you want to be even close to the first page, you’re going to need to get professionals to help. Let’s talk about some of the small things you can do to increase your rankings. Ask other businesses to put a link to your website on theirs. This is a great way to start generating back links. If you are a massage artist, and your friends with a chiropractor, then trade “links”! This counts as one “backlink” to your site. Google will increase your rankings for this. When we are running your SEO campaign, we do over 100 backlinks per month. It is amazing the results you can see when your site looks that popular. Another thing you can do is add keywords and meta tags to your content. Just putting in the words “massage Denver” on your home page can increase your rankings! Putting these keywords in your code is very important as well, but I wouldn’t recommend messing with the code of your site unless you have a programmer working with you. Doing these small things can give your site the boost it needs to be ready for a professional SEO campaign.
