Give Something Away
Up until 2013, Facebook required all sweepstakes, contests, and “giveaways” to be hosted through a separate third-party app. Since then, the social media giant eased these restrictions, allowing business owners to host them directly on their timeline. If you are struggling to attract followers to your page, try giving something away. You can allow users to enter the giveaway contest, for instance, by liking and following your page. After a week or two, select a random user and reward them with a gift. You can learn more about the rules of hosting a giveaway or sweepstakes on your Facebook page by visiting https://www.facebook.com/business/news/page-promotions-terms.
Publish New Content Frequently
One of the most common mistakes that brands make on Facebook is failing to publish new content on a regular basis. Unless your site has high-quality, relevant content, there’s simply no reason for users to like and follow it. So, how often should you publish new content on your Facebook page? According to a study conducted by BufferApp, the ideal posting frequency is two times per day between the hours of 10:08 a.m. and 3:04 p.m. If you are unable to log in during this time, consider scheduling your posts in advance (Facebook now has a built-in post scheduling feature).
Share Other Posts
Rather than creating each and every post yourself, why not share others users’ posts on your Facebook page? Start by following popular pages within your niche, at which point you’ll see some of their posts in your newsfeed. When you come across a funny, heartwarming, or otherwise engaging post, click the “Share now” button at the bottom right corner to post it on your page. Assuming the post has received a high number of likes or shares, chances are it will attract more people to your page.
Boost Posts
If you really want to go the extra mile, you can attract new followers to your Facebook page by boosting your existing posts. You’ll notice at the bottom of each post is a blue button titled “Boost Post,” which as the name suggests allows users to increase their posts’ visibility through paid promotion. Boosted posts are displayed higher in users’ newsfeeds, which should subsequently yield greater engagement and more followers.
