Even if your campaigns are attracting new customers, there’s always room for improvement. So today we’re going to reveal some helpful tips to enhance your brand’s social media marketing campaigns during the holidays.

Decorate Your Social Media Pages

You decorate your home with a festive wreath and string lights during the holidays, so why not decorate your social media pages with similar festive designs? Doing so will increase your brand’s “relevance,” making it more relatable to your followers. You could add holiday decorations like a Santa hat to your social media profile pages, or just a meaningful and spirited phrase. Reeses, for instance, updated its Facebook cover photo to display Reeses cookies, which are probably quite popular during the holiday season.

Use Holiday #Hashtags

Twitter may have invented the #hashtag, but this feature is now widely available on many social media networks, including Facebook, Google+, Instagram and Flickr. Check to see what holiday-related hashtags other brands and business owners are using and consider using them with your own social media post. This will allow you to reach a larger audience, which should in turn attract more followers to your account. Any users who searches for the hashtag — or a derivative thereof — may stumble upon your post and follow your account.

Give Something Away

With Facebook now allowing brands to host sweepstakes and contests directly on their Timeline, you should consider giving something away this holiday season. Whether it’s a free gift card, a company-branded t-shirt, or a free product/service, social media users love to receive free items. A simple way to do this is by collecting users’ email addresses. After a week or two of collecting them, you can select a random user as the winner. The great thing about hosting sweepstakes and contests on social media is that it often goes viral, as users begin to share the story with their friends, many of whom share it with their friends — and the cycle repeats.

Use Facebook Ads

Why should you use Facebook Ads? This is the social media network’s pay-per-click (PPC) self-serving ad platform, and it’s particularly effective at driving targeted traffic to either a Facebook page or website. Because many consumers are in the “buying” mood during the holidays, you’ll generally experience higher conversion rates and more sales during the holidays. It’s just that simple. Keep in mind, however, that bid prices may also be inflated due to the higher conversion rates of the holidays. This is why it’s important for brands and business owners to closely monitor their paid advertising campaigns, adjusting bids accordingly and rotating new ad copy.
