#1) Customize the Design
One of the first things you should do after launching a business website is customize the design. Whether your website uses a content management system (CMS) or not, you should use a unique, custom design. Otherwise, your site will blend into a sea of other generic sites, — and that doesn’t present your business well to customers and prospective customers.
#2) Display NAP
What is NAP and why should you display it on your business website? NAP is an acronym for “name, address and phone number.” By displaying your business’s NAP on your website, you’ll have an easier time ranking for local searches associated with your business. According to the search marketing experts at Moz, NAP is one of the most influential factors for local search ranking.
#3) Link Social Media Accounts
It’s also a good idea to link your social media accounts to your business website. Hopefully, you have a Facebook, Twitter and Google+ profile at the very least, which you can connect to your website. Log into each of these networks and add your website URL. And on your website, go ahead and add social buttons pointing to these and other social media profiles operated by your business.
#4) Content Marketing Strategy
According to Google, publishing high-quality content is the single most important thing you can do as a webmaster. When Google says something like this, it’s a good idea to heed its advice. So, plan your website’s content marketing strategy by deciding what type of content you’ll publish, when you’ll publish it, and how you’ll promote it. Once you get the ball rolling on your site’s content, you’ll find it’s easier to rank for your target keywords.
#5) Install Analytics
You should also set up some type of analytics software or service to measure key performance indicators (KPI) of your website. The most popular choice is, not surprisingly, Google Analytics. This free-to-use software reveals a plethora of helpful data about your website, such as the number of unique visits, number of returning visits, bounce rate, exit rate, linked pages and more. Using this information, you can optimize your business website for a higher level of performance.
