Without content, there’s no reason for people to visit your website; thus, your search rankings will drop and so will your sales. But how are you supposed to come up with new content ideas without rehashing the same information over and over?

Infographics

Who says web content has to come in the form of text? While text is certainly useful, infographics have become increasingly popular in the past few years as well. An infographic is essentially a visual representation of facts, figures and other information. Instead of conveying this information in text, turn it into the eye-catching infographic for a higher level of user engagement.

Once you’ve created an infographic, submit it to some of the web’s leading infographic directories such as visua.ly. This will allow other people to use your infographic in exchange for a backlink pointing to your site. Reddit also has an infographic directory that can be accessed at http://www.reddit.com/r/infographics.

Frequently Asked Questions

Another content idea for your website is to create a frequently asked questions page. Go through your emails, comments, social media posts, etc., and make a list of all questions asked by customers and prospective customers. Next, place these questions on a separate webpage and answer them.

Keep in mind that a frequently asked questions page is an on-going project that requires regular updates. When a customer asks you a new question, go ahead and respond directly to him or her but also include the question on your FAQ page.

YouTube Videos

Regardless of your website’s niche/topic, chances are there’s a YouTube video to match. The next time you are struggling to come up with new topic ideas for your website, head over to YouTube and find a relevant, engaging video to include on your site. Once you’ve found a video, click the “Share” button, followed by “Embed.” This should autoselect the embed iFrame code, at which point you can copy and paste it into your website. The video will now be accessible to anyone who views your website.

You can go one step further by adding your own commentary to YouTube videos. Instead of just embedding a YouTube video without any “unique” content, add a paragraph or two of commentary. Doing so will go a long ways in making your site more appealing to search engines and visitors alike.

.PDF File

Many webmasters overlook the use of .pdf files when creating new content for their websites. I recommend publishing a definitive guide to your niche and uploading to your website. Once uploaded, you can link to it from various pages, allowing visitors to download and use it as they please.
