internet-1651162_960_720How many likes does your Facebook Page have? It’s no secret that likes are a direct indication of a Page’s popularity. When a Facebook Page is popular, more people will like it. And all of those links instill a higher level of trust and authority in prospective customers, which is why it’s important for brands to continue building their Page likes.

Don’t Pay for Page Likes

Although tempting, you should avoid buying likes for your Facebook Page. There are dozens of companies out there who offer hundreds or even thousands of Page likes for little-to-no cost. Buying Page likes, however, is against Facebook’s terms and conditions, so it could result in your Page being shut down without notice. Unless you’re willing to take this risk (hint: you shouldn’t be), avoid paying for likes.

Optimize Page Info

One of the first things you should do after creating a Facebook Page is optimize your info. The more information you include, the better. After all, if there’s no information about your business listed here, users may question whether or not the Page is legitimate, in which case it’s doubtful they’ll click the ‘like’ button.

Post High-Quality Content

The golden rule of Facebook marketing is to post high-quality content on a regular basis. Without content, you’ll have a hard time convincing users to like and follow your Page. Think about what your audience is interested in, and try to deliver this in the form of high-quality content.

Go Beyond Text

Text is only one form of content that’s useful on Facebook and social media. Other forms of content include links, video and photos. So, which content is most effective at generating Page likes? According to a recent study conducted by SocialBakers, photos receive the highest level of user engagement — more than any other form of content. This doesn’t necessarily mean that you should only post photos on your Facebook Page. Rather, include a variety of different content formats, analyzing your Page Insights to see which content receives the most likes, comments and shares.

Include a Page Like Button on Your Website

You can also attract more likes by including a Page like button on your website. Keep in mind, however, that this button should link to your actual Facebook Page. When clicked, it should like your Facebook Page instead of your actual website. Assuming your website runs the WordPress content management system (CMS), you can use this plugin.
